Unlike previous lectures Kirsten cared for the Indian school , she will on 29 May to focus on the experience of the repatriation from Indonesia. The title of the lecture "Warm farewell, chilly reception" refers to the stories Kirsten in the editions of the New Vulture (Jakarta), the New Soerabajaasch Handelsblad / New Courant and The Free Press (Surabaya) from the '50s.
This - warm - stories stood in stark contrast to the messages from the Netherlands on the admission of Indo-Europeans. They were "Oriental Dutch 'who would not save in the Netherlands. This contrast arose from different conceptions of social (in-) equality in the Indian world.
In the lecture, both the stories and the beliefs that underlie the order. Then Kirsten wants the question to question to what extent these newspaper reports were a representative view of reality. People who want to browse before the thesis can visit http://indietabeh.kirstenvos.nl .
