Cultural program of lectures and film

On Sunday, October 12, 2008, at about 10:00 the cultural program "Repatriation from the Dutch East Indies" place on the Arnhem Bronbeek estate. From today until October 4 as it is possible to reserve places for this lecture.
The program is similar to what was offered on March 16, 2008 at the sold out Kumpulan. The day is aimed at people interested in the history and culture of the former Dutch East Indies and modern Indonesia. Indian buffet and a visit to the museum Bronbeek included.
The meeting on October 12 is the first in a series of new cultural Bronbeek on Sundays. The following are November 16, 2008, and January 25, February 22 and March 22, 2009.
Repatriation
From 1945, many Eurasian, Indo-Dutch and Dutch from the former Dutch East Indies to the mainland for many of them unknown. The Dutch government did not immediately consulted with the refugees and offered them shelter in contract or in private houses.
Indian and Dutch-Indian families often felt misunderstood by the authorities, but assimilated silently. Despite or because of the opposition they encountered, the returnees are the best integrated minority in the Netherlands.
Program
Wim Willems and Kirsten Fox will aspects of the repatriation from the Dutch Indies to raise. Hetty-Naaijkens-Retel Helmrich shows her documentary film "Contract Pensions' Scarabee Movies and interviewed before.
Wim Willems (1951) is Professor of Social History. He has a series of studies on the Indian post-war history to his name. Are standard in this area is "The exodus from India 1945-1995 '(2001). In October 2008 displayed his great biography of the one and only Author of Indo Netherlands, Tjalie Robinson. In his lecture 'Didi in Holland. The first impressions of the Indian Guest "will be an analysis of newspaper pieces Tjalie mid fifties Robinson wrote about his first experiences with the country of his father.
Kirsten Fox (1977) studied in 2007 for part-time study Media and Journalism at Erasmus University Rotterdam off to the thesis Tabeh India, it analyzed the coverage of the repatriation of Dutch newspapers in Indonesia. She has published articles and Indischhistorisch.nl monsoon and writes columns for magazine Archipelago. She is currently communications at the Ministry of Environment. In her lecture "The real home of the Indian community 'is Kirsten Fox to say goodbye to Indonesian Dutch in Indonesia and the names of returnees who had both expectations of future life in the Netherlands. Also outlines the character of 'the' Dutch Indies, as in the newspapers emerged. Fox is focuses on the different views in Indian communities in Indonesia on their real homeland.
Hetty Naaijkens-Retel Helmrich (1955) focused Scarab Films. In 2004 she received the Women of the Media Network Martha Hering Brooch, the biennial prize for a leading women's media that promotes women in the media. A material effect on its vision as a filmmaker and producer, the rich variety of cultures with which they came into contact. Recently she produced the documentary The position of the sun and the position of the moon, with her brother, Leonard Retel Helmrich had directed. Scarab many productions have national and international awards including the Prix Europa, the Joris Yvens Award and the World Cinema Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
